"Black, Tobiano Mare, born Mar 16, 2002. 'Dixie' is a
full sister to 'Grace'; they are almost identical with small differences
in the color pattern. Dixie was imprinted at birth by Danny and Carletta
Burrows. She was halter trained, trailer trained, and would lead and
stand tied at 24 hours old. Dixie is the fastest horse on Big Oaks. She
is not as quick as Rose but she makes up the difference after 20-30
yards. We put the youngest and most novice riders on Dixie. She takes
care of them. Michael Jacobs is teaching Dixie to rope and she comes out
of the box fast, circles, and stops as he ropes her front feet. We have
not started her on cattle yet. However, Dixie is a natural at herding
cows. She wants to run fast when a cow gets out of the herd as we move
them. Dixie will make anything you want: roping horse, cow horse,
jumping, dressage, barrels, trail riding, pleasure." |
